This year at CES, Audi definitely personified that popular kid you knew in high school. You remember: the one who was gorgeous, good at everything, and had all the best stuff.
Audi has always been at the forefront of vehicle innovation, so it’s only fitting that they offered some very exciting announcements regarding connectivity at CES 2015. In fact, Audi presented the world’s most connected vehicle: the Q7.
The Q7 boasts both Apple Car Play and Andriod Auto platforms to seamlessly interface with the driver’s smartphone. Additionally, the Q7 owner will get Audi Smart Display – a removable 10.2” Android tablet wrapped in brushed aluminum. I suppose we should also say the happy owner will experience the peace Audi Smart Display can bring, keeping passengers quiet and occupied! The device connects to the vehicle over Wi-Fi, allowing Internet access, as well as navigation and other media. Partnering with Qualcomm, the Q7 supports 4G LTE so the user can easily utilize Google Earth, speech search, the cloud, music, and Internet.
Technology is one of the biggest selling points of the Audi brand. In fact, 60% of Audi buyers opt for the Audi Connect package. Potential buyers will get an extra special treat soon, as Audi has announced they will be implementing both Apple Car Play and Android Auto into their infotainment system. Now, both Apple and Android users will be able to enjoy seamless integration of their smartphones without having to give up their preferred platform.
Of course, we don’t want to skip over the fact that a very special S7, nicknamed “Jack”, made the 560-mile trip from Silicon Valley to Las Vegas completely autonomously. Journalists “drove” the car, and Audi engineers were on hand in case something went wrong, but of course the trip was successful.
They even make their accessories luxurious , as we got to see when Jack was called onstage with one simple touch, via the Audi/LG smartwatch.
Scott Keogh, President of Audi of America, said it best: “We are transforming the car form gasoline, heavy metal and rubber to the world’s grandest and most beautiful mobile device.”
