For iVe Mobile, version 2.0 represents a major step in the evolution of the tool as an on-the-go resource for vehicle investigations. The aesthetic facelift is obvious. But under the hood, iVe Mobile 2.0 includes vastly improved functionality to make the app more practical. In our blog entry announcing the launch of iVe Mobile 2.0, we included a list of the new features and improvements, but a few highlights merit a bit more in-depth coverage here.
Added Menus
In the upper left and right users will find that iVe Mobile now sports additional menus for quickly accessing various functions. The left menu allows the user to jump to the home screen, vehicle lookups, or collections list with a tap, and it also includes options for checking for updates, redisplaying the welcome screens, and Berla Support contact info. The right menu will allow for notifications and can serve as an inbox for user, group, or individually addressed messages.
Added Syncing Functionality
The home screen in iVe Mobile 2.0 displays a list of the most recent collections and vehicle lookups, including those executed through iVe Mobile as well as iVe Software (assuming the user is logged into iVe Connect on both).
In short, the user’s iVe Connect login allows for syncing of these recent collections and vehicle lookups lists across both the desktop and mobile apps. Tap one of the collections, and iVe Mobile jumps to a summary of the collection and details about the vehicle. Tap one of the recent lookups on the home screen, and iVe Mobile reopens the lookup results for that vehicle.
Added Real-Time Updating of Instructions and Vehicle Lookup
As of iVe Mobile 2.0, users now have access to the ECU identification instructions (previously only accessible in iVe Software) and every set of available removal instructions. The vehicle lookup even shows data types specific to each ECU, which was previously only found on the website version of the vehicle lookup.
But perhaps most importantly, iVe Mobile now affords the opportunity to download updates to ECU identification and removal instructions, and the vehicle lookup database, whenever they are made available. What this means is that whenever Berla makes an update available, that same update can be downloaded to both the mobile app as well as the desktop app. The updates are facilitated through the user’s iVe Connect account and do not require an update to the application itself.
If you have not already done so, download your copy of iVe Mobile from the App Store (iOS) or Google Play (Android). It is hoped that the much-improved mobile app will prove to be indispensable for quickly gaining information about vehicles and systems encountered in the field.
