As mentioned in the main release blog, starting with iVe v3.0 you can empower other investigators, prosecutors, and clients by giving them read-only access to the data acquired from vehicle systems. When you share a vehicle, you not only share the contents of the collection, you share all of the information related to that vehicle. This gives you the ability to work whenever and wherever you need to and collaborate with others throughout the identification, acquisition and analysis of vehicle data.
You can be confident that the content of your collections are secure. When you share a vehicle, the contents of the collection are protected with your connection’s unique encryption key. Only the person you shared the vehicle with can decrypt the iVx file. Secure sharing allows for quick and easy access while allowing you to maintain control of the data. You can add additional people at any time or revoke access to the data. This can be accomplished through the forensic software or the mobile app. The one prerequisite is that the person you intend to share with is already one of your connections. Consider setting up all of your connections before you are standing in the rain at 2:30AM at a crime scene trying to share data…
Secure Sharing
Whether you are using the forensic software or the mobile app, adding a connection to a vehicle is fairly simple. Navigate to the vehicle dashboard and locate the sharing section. Click or tap on the ‘+’ button and then find the connection that you would like to share with. Click or tap his/her name and then hit the share button. He/she will receive a notification in a few minutes and the data will automatically populate in their instance of iVe.
